“The Good and Faithful Servant”
24×36inches, oil on panel
At sundown, a vaquero reins his palomino back on its haunches at the edge of his hometown. The mission's bell towers glow behind him; the mountains rise ahead. One hand lifts the brim of his sombrero in farewell. He isn't leaving on a whim. He's been entrusted with something, and he's riding out to answer that call.
Look closely and you'll find all five pieces of silver. Three are set into his saddle. One gleams on the horse's breast collar. The fifth is the rosary in his hand, its cross resting against his chest…a reminder of who the silver truly belongs to, and why it was given.
That is stewardship: not ownership, but trust. Not hoarding, but faithful use.
The original painting has been sold to a private collection.
